Land Donated To HCLC Approved By Congregation

On Sunday, June 22, the congregation of Halfway Creek Lutheran Church accepted a donation of land to the East of our church. This generous donation will bring our current building into compliance with current county zoning and will allow the addition to meet zoning requirements as well. Now that the congregation has accepted the land, we need only to ask the county to rezone the new property to match the zoning of our existing building. As soon as that is done, we can officially break ground. The vote to accept the land was 82 – 20 in favor.

The land that was donated was purchased by a member of the congregation, who would like to remain anonymous, from neighbors to the east of the church. We would like to thank those responsible for this gift.

In addition to accepting the land, we now have a formalized well agreement with our neighbor. Their well is located near the property line with us. We have been providing power to that well for over 25 years. In return, we can tap into that water supply in an emergency (such an emergency took place this winter as our water line from the parsonage froze. We were able to tap into our neighbor’s well to supply the church). The formalized well agreement was something we (our neighbor and us) needed to have done for the benefit of all.

The Second Century Committee again thanks you for your patience and support.
